That sound's real familiar. I'm pretty much tone deaf but it sounds just like another song that was pretty popular maybe 10-15 years ago.

Are you guys talking about the beat, or the riff? The beat's generic, but the riff sounds a little familiar to me.
 
Its basically a cover with some lyrics replaced, I've heard to original before but cant think of it now.

That's a different riff though. The one in the OP sounds really familiar to me, but it may just be a stylistic thing that sounds familiar. I don't really listen to new music, so it would be something old that it reminds me of....

It is. If I remember its a black guy who sings it. Heard it on the radio a while ago and it caught my attention, but I've forgotten it now...
