I'm gonna be visiting NYC from May 21st to the 26th with some of my friends. (Yeah I know it's kind of long from now but I just like to plan things ahead of time) Anything special to do there? Some restaurant recommendations would help too :)

NYC pizzeria pizza. period.

EDIT: Oh, and there's a Japanese buffet restaurant called Minados in the city and Long Island. Buffet style oriental food + buffet style sushi/sashimi.

what's your budget?

what are your interests?

there's a reason why NYC is one of the tourism capitals of the planet but your question is a little broad.

i can answer it with "what isn't there to do in NYC?"

Grimaldi's Pizza in Brooklyn.
Junior's Cheesecake in Brooklyn.
Ruth Chris Steakhouse on 57th (I think, Google to make sure, and make reservations) in Manhattan.
Peter Luger's Steakhouse in Brooklyn. Edit: Reservations are necessary here too.
Broadway Shows (if you think you might like Rent, go to the theater at 5 PM and enter yourself into the rush ticket drawing - $20 per ticket for the first few rows (if you're chosen) - tickets are handed out in pairs)
Circle Line/Sightseeing/Whatever
Get wasted in the both the east and west villages.

There is absolutely nothing to do in NYC. That's why I moved away from there. Well, that and all the traffic/people/noise/dirt.

1) I'm not too picky about my food, but IMO its pretty good.
2) You must be going cheap for the lunch special, right?

Also, you're right about it being a chain. I mean, come on! less than 10 places around the country counts as a chain right? http://www.minado.com/locations.htm

If it's illegal, immoral, or just plain fun, it can be done in NYC. For a price that is...

Don't really have a fixed budget right now, but I'd say a few hundred (excluding hotel costs) maybe for those 5 days.

I might just catch a Knicks game if there's one scheduled during my time of stay, I've always wanted to see an NHL/NBA game at Madison Square.

I guess I basically just wanna tour the city and try out some nice restaurants.

I went there for dinner w/ my family once. They're all up on buffet food. I for one am not a fan. But to each, his own.

And who isn't a fan of cheap food? but i like upscale restuarants as well.

My suggestion for the OP. If nothing else, try to get a reservation at WD-50. They have the most innovative cuisine in nyc, and some pretty awesome friggin desserts.

if you feel like sightseeing and being a tourist, consider the double decker tour buses, it'll be nice outside by the time you come here.
sorry to say, but an NHL game aint goin to happen...hehe.
there are tons of restaurants to go to with food from every country possible. plenty of lounges/clubs/bars if you're into that scene as well.

Lots of interesting bars. Jeckyl and Hyde (or however it's spelled) is supposedly fun. There's the Late Show and Conan taping in NY as well.

Yeah I know.. and I don't think I'd be able to afford a Knicks playoff game ticket (provided that they make the playoffs of course). The regular season would be over by then. Thanks for the suggestions.
