What is the youngest age that you have a clear memory from?

An interesting question, no? My son is 2 and a half and watching his mental and personality development is fascinating! As we play and have conversations, I can't help but wonder to myself, "how much of these experiences will he remember later in life?"

I am 34 years old - thea EARLIEST clear memory I can recall is an incident when I was 3 or 4 (got into on open can of paint with a young neighbor girl and gave my grandmother's bench a new paint job!)

I'm just curious - what is the earliest memory you can recall?

i was 2 and 10 months...

and i clearly remember the day when my brother came into this world....

i think i remember stuff from earlier, but i can't attach any date range to it

I have one clear memory when I was about 4, and the next clear memory around age 6.

Kinda strange since I am renowned by family and friends as a person with amazing memory.

i think a lot of times we think we remember stuff from very young, but it may be just pictures we have seen and committed to memory.

i would have to say i was 4 before i really remembered stuff vividly.

I wonder about this - I have some cloudy and vague memories from real young years - but that bench painting episode is VERY clear (probably because of the trouble I was in and the way my parents had to clean the paint off of me with turpentine!) From reading your responses so far - it appears that *BIG* events that are either shocking (bee stings) or life-changing (new baby) seem to burn-in permanently.

Interesting! Thanks for the replies!

About 20 months. My mother had me, my brother age 4 and my sister age 6 1/2, all in my Grandmother's tub at the same time bathing us. It was cold, it was in Chicago. G/m came bursting in raging at my mother for doing this. Years ago I described the whole incident to my mother, including the patterns and colors of the wall paper in the bathroom. It blew her away.........Lots of better memories from age 3 and 4........
:sun:

2 1/2 years. A tornado blew most of the farmstead away while ma and I were in the cellar. It was cool.

I definitely remember things from age three and I believe I remember things from earlier, but I don't know how old I was. Maybe 2? I'm not sure.

I was 3, me and my gramps walked from my house to the train tracks down the street. I got a ride on a frieght train. 😀 Well.. not a RIDE per say, but I got to back up and move it forward.

I also remember the day my brother was born, and I was also 2 years, 10 months. Weird.

probably around 3 years old... i remember a few different things from that age.. and possibly even a little earlier, i am not quite sure.

My first clear memory is when my sister was born - i was 1 year and 11 months old. Not that many clear memories before I was 4 though. I'm 24 now.
