I don't really get the hate for fish. They aren't really pets though. I think of them more as decorations. A tank with some nice looking fish, live plants, and other decorations can be very nice to look at.

They are just completely worthless is all. You can't interact with them at all yet if you ignore them, much as you would a decoration, they will die. Yet people spend thousands and thousands of dollars on tanks, food, fish, shit that goes in the tank for the fish to swim through, etc.

Complete waste of money if you ask me.

Birds are up there on the list of most worthless creatures to keep as pets too.

Roosters. That whole "they crow in the morning" is urban legend. One of ours (soon to become a Sunday dinner) is loud ALL....NIGHT....LONG.

Lol last week we took our rooster a few miles from home and dropped it off in the woods. Bastard kept attacking people.

I long time ago, I would have agreed about Guinea pigs being bad pets. Most just didn't act like pets and avoid being handled.

However, I finally met someone that owned a Guinea pig and it was super-friendly. It loved to jump in my lap and be petted.

While I think ferrets are cute, I don't think they make good pets. They just WON'T STOP MOVING and they don't seem to be very affectionate.

Cats, dogs, hamsters, ferrets, pigs and guinea pigs share what I consider an essential feature: They recognize their owner and have a chance of showing affection.

Things like spiders, lizards and fish, which are basically indifferent, don't appeal to me as pets.

Any small rodents. Hamsters, mice, rats. They're messy, the smell, and they die easily.

My uncle's insane ex-wife was obsessed with keeping squirrels indoors for a while. They damaged everything, even peed on their expensive widescreen and fried it. They also tend to bite. Best left in the wild. That is until they gnaw a hole into your attic and make a nest.
