I was in about 5 miles in the woods away from civilization, the main area was a mile away and I ran a mile with bare feet to go tell them about the situation.. didn't realize what had happened until I saw bare muscle on my feet.

I have had a lot of pain in my life, but far and away the most excruciating pain is that of Crohn's Disease (See 49erinnc above). If you watched Survivor this past season and saw Bruce medivac'd out, that is just a taste. I have been fortunate and blessed to have gone 25 years without an operaiton (just had it last year), but unfortunately, they tell me I will need another operation in < 10 years. Once you have one, the odds go up for another one.
When I have a flare up, and it is bad, I can't breather, I can't blink, without immense pain. It is hard to experience, and I am sure hard to watch as well. I don't wish this on anyone...

Back in college, about 10 years ago, I couldn't breathe out of the right side of my nose. For about 3-4 months, I went the med-center and they thought it was a sinus infection and they gave me antibiotics. Every so often, I'd start SHOOTING blood out of that nostril. I knew something was up. One day, I was feeling some sinus pressure, then all of a sudden, it felt like I had been stabbed in the face. The pain was amazing. I seriously wanted to die! I went to the ER and they said, "You have something growing in there! You need to see a specialist!" I went to a EN&T specialist, and they found a golf ball sized growth in my sinus, and it had broken though the wall of skull! 8-0 Seriously, I'll throw my hat in with childbirth or passing stones! (Although I don't slight either one. I DON'T want to trade!)
Luckily it wasn't cancerous, so they were able to go under my lip to get most if it out. They had to take out my right eye to get the rest! I had some crazy Frankenstein stiches on the bridge of my nose near my eye. Got to make some fun "Knife fight" stories.
I also got the treat of having my sinus packed and having the packing removed, which I heard was TERRIBLY painful, but I guess I got lucky. I was shaking like a leaf when they were ready to pull, but it came out with no problem...
I had another scare a few years ago, where I went back for a checkup, and there was another golfball sized growth in the hole that was left from the surgery. Luckily, it was just a pus pocket (Ewww!) that formed in the hole. They had to drill a HOLE IN MY SKULL, in the sinus cavity, to act as a drain. Oddly enough, that sounded worse than it felt, but it was no picnic.
Luckily it wasn't cancerous, so they were able to go under my lip to get most if it out. They had to take out my right eye to get the rest! I had some crazy Frankenstein stiches on the bridge of my nose near my eye. Got to make some fun "Knife fight" stories.

Nothing too bad for me (knock on wood)
But sometimes when im flying and the airplane is descending I'll get these severe, severe headaches and it feels like there a huge pressure behind my eyes. Sometimes i'll start tearing up and at taht point if I had bleeding from my eyes i wouldn't hav ebeen surprised.
Another was when i had a wisdom tooth removed and i was dumb enough to not buy the drugs until the shot started wearing off. That was unpleasant...

Yeah, my dad's had his hip replaced twice and it wasn't too bad for him. I think the bad ones here had bad anesthesia or something - sounds like jadinolf's really screwed his up.
I feel your pain, literally. I'm Prednisone-dependent which helps but will likely cause me all sorts of other problems because of my long-term use. The pain from a bad flare-up really can't even be put into words. I guess the best way to describe what I've gone through is swallowing a handful of razor blades and having them pass through your intestines on a constant basis. I have about an 8" section that's pretty scarred up from so many flare-ups. No surgery yet but can't rule it out. I take Prednisone and Immuran, while just trying to live as stress-free as possible. Stress and Crohn's, as you well know, don't get along very well.
Crohn's sucks and I feel like I've been cursed for having it. Definitely wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I had meningitus and 2 spinal taps. Felt like my head was going to explode from the inside out. Spinal taps are not pleasant either.
had a perferated ulcer, I didn't have insurance at the time so I hoped it was a bad stomac ache and would just go away so I layed there for 12 hours in pain.
Then to diagnose my problem the doctor had me drink half a gallon of this chalky ****** (I have a hole in my stomac remember) which just made the problem worse.

When I was 10 yeras old I was diagnosed with a neurologigal disorder. A couple of yers later I was trying out medicines that would restore signal substances in the brain back to normal. By accident I was given an overdose. It took some 6 hours for me to realize someting was wrong. For 2 days i hade an out of this world head ache where every pulsbeat was like a pice of dynamite in my head. I refused to medicate ever since.
As long as we're comparing battle scars, I think some people might have a tough time beating some of mine
Worst pain I ever felt was when I broke my arm in the middle of pitching a baseball. I was pitching in a mens amateur baseball league game. It was top of the 4th inning, 2 outs, at Fairfax highshool in Virginia. The highschool powder puff game was being played on the football field directly behind center field. It was halftime and the marching band was playing. I had this guy 0 and 2, and was throwing a slider. When I went to throw the ball however, instead of my arm rotating forward, it rotated completely backward as my humorus (the bone between the elbow and the shoulder) fractured in a a complete spiral. The pain was so bad I blacked out for a second, which caused me to fall forward, on top of my then broken arm. Once I regained conciousness I just remember screaming and screaming. The paramedics from the powder puff game came over gave me some nitrous and demerol, after which I was taken by ambulance to the hospital. And yes, this was the exact same type of injury that Dave Dravecky experienced, although I, unlike him, did not have cancer) The centerfielder on my team said he heard my arm snap over the sound of the marching band that was playing directly behind him.
Second worst pain I ever felt was when I had to stretch the tendons in my right elbow out after having my arm in a sling for 4 months due to the fracture. For those who don't know, when you have your arm in a sling where your arm is bent 90 degrees at the elbow, after a while the tendons in that elbow get really really tight. The tendons in my right elbow were so tight that even after I took the sling off, my arm still bent 90 degrees at the elbow. To straighten it I would get in the shower, run the hottest water I could stand on the arm for 10 minutes. I would then prop my arm against the wall and lean my bodyweight on it order to force the arm to straighten. It was shear agony.
Third worst pain I've ever felt was when I snapped the post medial epicondal tendon in my right elbow, also while pitching a baseball (baseball injuries are a recurrant theme in my life). This was painful both physically and mentally, because three weeks earlier I had been contacted by the recruting coordinators of several big name baseball colleges (Ga Tech; Witchita State) who were interested in me. That injury ended any of my chances at a baseball career.
Finally, to round out my horrific injury stories, the fourth worst pain I've ever experienced is a toss up between when the middle knuckle of my right index finger was crushed by a metal baseball cleat when I slid head first into second base, and the time when I sliced about a 1/4 inch of my thumb of with a very sharp kitchen knife when I was slicing tomotoes and not paying enough attention.

Last year around this time, I hyper-extended my back while everyone was on vacation. I was home alone by myself (living with my family at the time).
Getting out of bed just to go pee took me 20 minutes. My only life line was my buddy who lived down the street (we share an apartment now to be closer to work). I gave him a set of keys to my house and he'd come over with food for about 4 days when I was able to stand up again.

I don't know if this is the most painful, but I think you win the thread award for the sheer most nasty medical problem.
Three years ago I was at a crosswalk and I was walking across and this jackass looking at a mapquest paper and not paying attention to the road nailed me and i flew up onto the windshield, smashed it, flew off rolled on the asphalt and landed in the bushes across the street. It turns out that one of my sandals was 20 feet from where I was and the other was 30 feet in the opposite direction.
I remember trying to get up but I couldnt and fell back over and I remember cussing profusely and then for some reason reading the back of a truck that said toyota while lying there in miserable pain.
Soon enough the road was blocked off and ladies flew from their cars and I remember some lady put a towel to my head (ended up having to get 6 stitches to my forehead) because I was just pouring blood.
The cops were called, but apparently according to witnesses...the tow truck got their before the ambulance/police because the jackass was worried more about his hyundai accent than the life of this half dead kid in the street.
I was indeed very lucky to get out alive. If my body was turned at a different angle I could have been dead.
I ended up spending close to a week in the hospital, as my face was completely black (was later washed up), I had all this pussy stuff coming out from my face, scabs everywhere, abrasions, etc. etc. etc.
I also had a severely dislocated shoulder (while they thought I had multiple broken bones..I was lucky) which apparently was hanging at its side when I was brought into the ambulance.
Since that day I had had my shoulder redislocate 5 times before I finally had to have shoulder surgery about a year and a half ago.
Thankfully, since then, it has not dislocated and I have only felt slight discomfort when I move it in an awkward position.
