That's actually true. Distilled water does not conduct electricity, although there could be some problems that I am not aware of.

So very false. Distilled water doesn't conduct electricity as well as non-distilled, but it does conduct. If what you were saying were true there would be little or no lightning over the ocean because the bolt would have to hit the sea floor to ground (granted salt water but it's water all the same). You'd also be perfectly safe using a hair-dryer in a distilled water bath.

We'd all agree that air is a poor conductor of electricity, but in said lightning strike, it's enough.

What you end up doing is having electrons conducted through a string of H2O molecules to chain the current through... the presence of extra ions (dissolved stuff in non-distilled water) helps with carrying those electrons, but a high enough potential will allow water molecules to conduct (and ionize to eventually for H2 and O2).

Seawater isn't distilled water....it has a very high concentration of ions, of course it conducts electricity....

Maybe than a 14.4

Even though I have cable and my speed down is usually over 2.1, I want more speed....more more more:)

I overheard some sales guy give this pitch to an elderly couple at Futureshop, the funny thing was, an hour before he was trying to sell some fridge to another couple.

OMG, I think I would have actually blurted out laughing if I overheard that :D

Installing WINMX and showing a friend how to use it. I tell him big files just download overnight.
Get a call about a week later:

Him: That stuff you showed me doesn't work.

It's a long story to figure out what's wrong, so after some prodding:

Me: You have to leave your computer on while it downloads

"I could have built you a 486DX/4-100 but you'll never need that kind of power." - The guy who built our 486DX/2-66

"I'll never use all these." - My thought after purchasing a 50 pack of 1.44MB floppies about 7 years ago.

"I'll never use all these." - My thought after buying a 50 pack of CD-R's about 3 years ago. (I don't seem to learn from past experience.)

Yeah Dad, that's why you still have a Dell XPS.

Heheheh....he might have meant "Never LOW LEVEL format your drive". Old MTM drives used to require this. It's not needed on IDE drives.

unfortunately this sometimes works.

This actually works 9/10 times when this problem occurs. It's mostly caused by your IP address expiring and your modem can't accept a renew request.
