Since Adul has been the first to AIM me to make sure I was still alive and then sent me this thread, I decided to respond before I hit the sack.

Salesman: Yea, without this UPS, you're computer might get a virus.
Me: We're going to another store

I was out helping a friend shop for a new computer. I dragged his ass outa there as fast as I could.

best buy tech: you better buy a UPS with that computer. because with the new windows XP it needs a constant power supply.
me: heh, if i start having troubles with the power blacking out i'll consider getting one.
best buy tech: but it'll be too late!
me: huh?
best buy tech: once the computer loses power, the hardware is destroyed.
me: yeah...

after that i made up some bs excuse to get away FAST. :)

TO buy one of the early P4's with Rambus. This advice was given to me buy one of the techs I work with. I asked him to prove it with some benchmarks. It scored the same as my system I had at the time.

"Get a faster one. Mine is 56x and yours is 6x.."

This guy thought he was so smart and he thought that CD-ROM drive speed determines the speed of the computer.
