What is the World Coming to? (rant inside)

You know sh][t is hitting the fan when all this stuff is happening.... North Korea is pulling out of the Nuclear Prolieferation(sp?) Act, and is threatening nuclear war if any of the Security council members impose financial sanctions or try to invade the country. Their UN Ambassador Politely said "We are using these nuclear devices to provide electricity, for the time being...." whatever the hell thats supposed to mean.

Meanwhile all the power houses of the world E.G. USA and China have their hands tied. I mean what is going on here, its fairly clear the North Koreans are askign for it, what are we doing giving them the benefit of the doubt? Meanwhile.... While Iraq isn't proclaiming to have nukes (.... North Korea...) The United States of America is off trying bust a royal cap in Saddam's ass, now I can understand why, Georgie boy wants to finish daddies work, increasing oil prices because of Venezuela (sp?), make this somewhat necessary. What I can't understand is why the USA is devoting so much attention to this when North Korea has the ability to hit Seattle with their ICBMS, which would in turn, kill me. I live in Vancouver.. So whats the rational for this train of thought? Let the UN deal with Iraq, they said they would, and defend your people georgie, North Korea is threatening them.

Hitting home a bit more

A prominent muslim leader was killed here a few days ago, his suspected killer? Well the police were to 'busy' doing other stuff and he was apprehended by a fvcking tv reporter! You know something is wrong when a TV reporter gets this killer and not your police... fvck this world is going to hell in a handbasket... I know this rant might not make sense, but this is just a few things on my mind.

I dunno why we waste our time declaring war on these backward countries. We should make the smart choice using their local populace as slave labor to make nike shoes and other nifty items for pennies an hour. Those north koreans wouldn't be so worked up about nuclear stuff if they were busy knitting me a fine pair of cashmire socks.

North Korea has the ability to hit Seattle with their ICBS
WoW a secret weapon! ICBS.

What gets me is the South Korea people wanting the US Forces out of their country. The country would be all North Korean if we had not gone over there and saved there buts.
Not defending North Korea but you do know dont you that they a independent country, we withdrew from the treaty with Russia concerning anti ICBM devices, rant on that.

Bleep

ya to bad those koreans knitting your socks weren't in government, they probably have more brains than those cocky idiots that are in there right now. Seriously they are playing with a bull and they will get the horns soon enough.

He can see the "writing on the wall", George W. is coming after him next. He wants to be prepared. And he knows GW means business, he can see what GW has planned for Iraq.

Perhaps you would have rather lived in 1915-1919. You not only had World War I to contend with there was also the influenza pandenmic which killed ~21 million people worldwide.

Or maybe you would prefer the 40's with Hitler and Tojo doing their best to take over the world and killing off anyone they didn't like. That would be a nice quiet time to live.

Well maybe the 50's then. You could learn to duck and cover under your school desk because of the cold war.

Well, you get the idea. Yes, there are some problems in the world today. Each and every generation has had problems to deal with. Right now there are two madmen in charge of two countries. They will be dealt with and life will go on.

North Korea would have to be foolish to attack any other country with Nuclear warheads. Do you really think they would see tomorrow if they bombed New York, London or Tokyo? Their entire country would be leveled...

IMHO what North Korea is doing is a cry for help as well as a statment of independence in this situation. It would not make sense for them to actually use nuclear weapons against anyone, instead why not make a few billion selling them to groups and countries that might be interested.

North Korea's total exports in 2000 amounted to only $700 million dollars (contrasted with say Afghanistan 's $1.2 billion) and we see they are really a welfare state with little developed resources that can be used by outside entities or even their own system.

Next look at aid they are currently receiveing. "nearly $300 million in food aid alone from US, South Korea, Japan, and EU in 2001 plus much additional aid from the UN and non-governmental organizations"

We see that North Korea really has little to loose except for garnering attnetion to themselves (perhaps receieving more aid) as well as the possibilty of creating Nuclear arms in order to supplement they're government further. What is needed is a bew regime obviously, and many many years of work to develope what resources they do have. This is a scary time with North Korea, with an impatient dictator, and the possibilty to make hundreds of millions of dollars through nuclear arms sales

The problem is, we don't know how they think...as far as we can tell, they don't value individual human life like western countries do. They may see state bankruptcy and losing control of their country as worse than the leveling of the entire country.

That's why I support Bush's cautious approach to NK. You tread carefully around crazy people.

I would have liked to live in the mid-70s. Oh wait, I did. Never mind.

Maybe they figure it will be leveled anyway. Nothin' to loose.

Two Words: Nuclear Weapons. In the Post/Pre-WWI times, tanks were just starting to be used. In WWII, we had nukes, but only towards the end, and not too many of them. Now, every leader and their brother has nukes (exageration, I know). We could crack the world in half with the explosive power the world combined has. This has NEVER happened before. It is easier than before to wipe out your, and the world. In the times before and after the World Wars, it was assumed most of the population would wether whatever would come. In this nuclear era, it is uncertain who will live.

During the cold war Russia had enough nukes to destroy the world several times over, the US had even more and still do, plus both countries came very close to using them. I don't think times now are as bad as there were, do you know how close it came to nuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis?

Russia was a lot smarter than some of the countries that have Nukes now. The USA was a lot smarter than it is now too, I think 🙂)). Kruschev (sp) despite his shortcomings, was a rather cool-headed leader compared to what he could have done. Some of these Nuclear Powers today, I think, are wreckless enough to use them, without enough thought into the results.
