0-25: Junior
26-200: Member
201-1000: Senior
1001-2000: Golden
2001-3000: Platinum <--- you are here
3001-10000: Diamond
10001-50000: Lifer
50001+: No Lifer

Quality > Quantity

He has a custom title. You can't get those or a few other stock custom titles like "Elite Member" unless a moderator chooses to change it.

Moderators are volunteers, so you really just have to volunteer... but they also need to trust you and believe you'll be a good moderator. And they have to have a need obviously.

There was an election of sorts last time, but that was a while ago. It's like the supreme court, too, where some positions are lifetime appointments.

I don't think they are actually looking for mods right now. There are less active users than there used to be, thanks to social networks, sites like Reddit, and other factors.

Generally a pm campaign to all the mods works. They enjoy hearing from us and like it when the membership want's to participate. Reporting lots of posts, giving them pointers on moderation, helping them understand when they've made a mistake all help. Mostly just stay involved. You'll be moving on up in no time at all...

If they want you to be a mod, they'll ask. If you ask them, that's the #1 way to never be a mod.
