What is the stupidest wrong number call you have ever got?

I'm not a damn fax machine and I don't appreciate your phone calls at 1 am!

My home number used to be the business number of a local software development firm. So for close to a year, I would field 2-3 calls a week looking for this business.

Started off innocent enough...

Me: Hello
Idiot: Yeah hi, I need help with installing software xyz on my Palm. I can't seem to...
Me: Uhmm. You have the wrong number.
Idiot: Oh, I do?
Me: Yup
Idiot: So this isn't <company name>?
Me: Nope.
Idiot: Well, do you know how I can reach them?
Me: No...
Idiot: Okay, well thanks anyways.

So these persisted for a while until curiosity prompted me to look up the company. I started telling these callers to go on the internet and look up the company as their correct information was listed on their website. I was greeted with responses that baffled me.

Me: Go on the internet and look up their website for the new number.
Idiot: This is the number that's listed.
Me: Go to their website. It has the new information.
Idiot: I did get this number from the internet.
Me: Click.

(Their website did not, in fact, list my number...)

Thinking that I would be helpful, I would give out the website address.

Me: Go to www.company.com and their contact information will be listed.
Idiot: Well, okay, but this is the number that I have.
Me: ... (I don't know how to respond to such stupidity)

Finally, I simply migrated to the "Wrong Number" strategy, as being helpful was too much effort.

im assuming "shens" means BS? heh, nope, really happened, It was late summer of 2000, since it was right before I got my current car. The real story is actually a lot longer, it wasn't like bam, phone call, go over, get it on, leave, it was quite an eventful night, also involving getting questioned by the police (left that part out cuz, like I said, this story is unbelievable)

Call BS if you want, like I need to prove anything to an internet forum.... :roll:

At a job I worked our 800 number was similar to a power company, in Virginia I think. Anyways we would get calls from people yelling at us to turn on their power. This created some very funny situations. Also, during xmas they gave hams to some of their customers so we would get calls about people's missing hams. Also, created some funny situations.

At my apartment somehow a girl got my phone number listed as her parents house for her Jr. High. So, a couple times a week I would get a call saying "Your student *Jessica* missed periods 4,5 and 6" then it would hang up. I never bother calling the school to get it correct, it was too funny.

When I lived in S. Florida we either had the old number for some shoe store called Athletic Attic or it was similar. I never bothered to check. For the longest time we'd periodically get calls about when they closed and shoe questions. I never messed with them but the potential was certainly there.

A few times I got wrong numbers from girls who tried to start a conversation with me I'm guessing because they liked my voice. I have even heard of a few marriages that resulted in a wrong number conversation!

Left on a voicemails I had a young girl PO'd at her boyfriend telling him she knew this and that and that she was breaking up with him. It was hilarious because the poor guy never really had a clue she left the message and when he told her I know she would never believe him.
Just the other day I had a lady telling her son to get his "azz" home. She left a few messages for him. What's ridiculous in both cases is that I say my NAME in the voicemail greeting. They don't listen to it apparently.

I swear I have the same guy calling me. The weird thing is, I've gotten the calls at home in southern california, my dorm room in davis, and in my apartment in davis when I moved outa the dorms. It seems to be a middle-aged guy who immediately when I pick up, would say "i'm sorry, I have the wrong number", and hangs up. I get the call like 2-3 times a year and wherever I am. Its freaken weird because nobody else admits to ever taking a call like that and calls me a whacko. Been happening for like 3 years.

The other thing was a message left on my machine since I have the generic "leave a message after teh beep" that the phone comes with.

One involved a girl saying she thinks she's pregnant and breaks up with the guy cuzz she dont' think he'll be a good dad, and another one where a guy thinks he's calling another guy about how he's so wasted and how the dope he bought was soo good.

i know someone who in high school, when we were 16 got a wrong number from some girl...then they got to talking, and decided to see a movie together

well both brought friends just to make sure the other one wasnt too sketchy...

when they got there nothing seemed wrong and she said she was 15

during the movie the girl went down on my friend, with my other friend sitting like 4 seats away!

well about a week or 2 later my friend found out that she wasnt 15, in fact a couple years younger!
