The belief that their version of Christianity is the one true religion and everyone else is going straight to you-know-where.

From what I have seen...hypocrisy.

Is that unique to Christians? "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God..." What's more, a lot of "Christians" don't believe in Jesus, don't believe in hell, barely believe in God, etc... sure Christians aren't perfect (because they are still human) but some of the ones I've seen are among the kindest and warmest people you will ever meet.

There is only one definition.

That the person believe the Jesus came to this earth died for their sins and was resurrected from the dead, ascended to heaven, and now sits at the right hand of the Father. If a person believes that and accepts Christ as their personal savior they are a christian. And while their are tons of different belief systems almost all churches whether they are catholic, protestant, or full gospel generally believe this and accept that to be the foundation of what they believe.

The god of every other religion requires that you do a qualifying work to be forgiven of your sins.

In Christianity, God doesn't require anything from you to accept Christ and be forgiven of sins.

Cliffs:
Christianity = what God does for you (then you act out of love/gratitude, not desperation)
Everything else = what you do for god

Very nicely put

Somewhat correct, but I don't like the way it's worded. A person is required to repent of their evil deeds in order to obtain forgiveness and continue to live a good life in order to get to Heaven

I'd have to actually give a fvck in order to answer your question.

It's more important the heart posture of the Christian- to truely love God. A good analogy would be dealing with parents- if you truely love them, you would want to do what they say, not a set of mandatory rules to follow. Repentence is suppose to come naturally if you love God.

The belief that Jesus is the son of God.

If Jesus is the son of god then that makes Christianity a polytheistic religion, does it not?

Welcome to the trinitarian debate, two thousand years in the works and counting.

A hatred for others under a thin guise of universal love. In other words, tell a nonbeliever that "I love you, but you're going to hell to burn forever"

belief that Jesus died for the sins of mankind and now mankind has a license to indulge in all carnal desires and live an utterly hedonistic lifestyle

My wife is more of a seeing is believing kind of lady, thats why she is married to me. Needing to believe in something bigger than myself to feel adequate in the grand scheme of things is not required. Good to know there are still sheep in the pasture.

+1 post count. 🙂

The main idea of Christianity is just plain "Be nice to everyone, no matter who they are."

It's amazing how many fights are started over that.

A Christian is somebody who has chosen to ask and accept that forgiveness.

Not really. Christianity is more diverse than that.

Personally, I believe that Jesus was the son of God. I am also the son of god. I am a jesus, you are a jesus as well. This goes more into buddhism at this point, and most of jesus sayings from a certain perspective are buddhist... All of his sayings put into a certain perspective (literally vs. figurativly) and you have buddhism.

and oh yeah, jesus lived on a buddhist trade route.... hmm, make you think.
