What is the significance of PCI/AGP Speeds?

I hear a lot of people say to set the PCI/AGP lock to 67 MHz. Would this hinder the performance of a 6800GT as opposed to using say a 75 or 85 MHz PCI/AGP lock? And why not just use the faster speeds? Does it affect overclockability?

75 or 85MHz is too much for the video card (way out of the spec 66MHz), it would work incorrectly or not at all. There's no speed gain as far as I know.

OK cool. Well how about this question then: Why do some people say to set the speed to 67 instead of 66? I have this vague memory of people saying that setting it to 67 will suppress some symptoms that arise when the system is overclocked.

they say to set to 67, because on certain nForce3 motherboards, you need to set it to 67 for the PCI/AGP lock to function correctly.
