Thanks ahead for the replies. I am going to take the A+ hardware test tomorrow and I have been confused on the max. lengths for each type. some books say 10 feet for the parallal some say 6 feet, on the serial side I have heard anywhere from 50 feet to 25, any ideas what the true recommends length is suppose to be???

50 feet is the limitation of the rs232 serial interface using full +12/-12v signals. Many integrated serial ports don't use the full voltage so your mileage may vary. Printer cables always used to be limited to 6feet, officially, but the IEE1284 (??) may have allowed for longer, up to 10 feet. Hope this helps, at least a bit.
