I have an eVGA 7900GT, and I'm looking for the quietest cooler to put on it. Any advice?

See if you can order an OEM 7900GTX heatsink/fan from EVGA or BFG or MSI or one of those companies that carries a lot of nVidia boards. I bet it would be cheaper than an Arctic Silencer or Zalman and would work incredibly well on a 7900GT assuming no modification is necessary to attatch it.

My evga 7900gt was very loud stock. I liked the vf700 that I had on my 6800 gt so much I got a vf900 for my 7900 gt. It is pricey but your video card will be the coolest and quietist part in your rig. :)

hey, i've got a used VF700 for sale if you're interested. It's nice and quiet, and I would use it on the X1800XT i have except the stock cooling is pretty good and blows the air out of the case which is nice. PM me if you're interested.

Yep, but I'm getting a second 7900GT, and I'd like to buy another cooler (and one that wont need mods to fit)

Umm why is everyone recommending the VF700 when the 900 cools better?

900 wins HANDS DOWN.

Heatpipe = hotttt. No point
900 = winnar in temps + noise.
700 = louder + not as cool

Well because the VF900 is almost 200% the price of VF700, and it cools 2-3C better?

And there's no LED version of the VF900 (i.e. VF900CU-LED) :p

Plus there are coolers that are cheaper and better. Doesn't explain the VF-700 recommendations, though.

At full speed the vf900 is actually louder than the vf700 at full speed. Neither is good enough to cool the hot cards like x1900xt, but I've had great results using a vf700 on a OC'd x800xt, so anything that runs cooler than that would easily be cooled by the vf700.

I have two vf900's on my SLI setup and they are great. At full speed i cannot hear them over my other fans like CPU and whatnot.

It "works" but you have to cut off part of the exhaust if you want it to fit inside a case.

But the NV5 doesn't cool the ram chips on the 7900GT, right?
