Should you aim for sweating when you are working out? What other benefits do you besides getting rid of excess heat in the body?

If you are running, you can slow down to the point where you don't have to sweat.

you sweat so your skin gets wet. The moisture evaporates, and water takes a fair amount of energy to go from liquid -> gas, and lots of that energy is taken from your skin in the form of heat, so it cools you down. Works best in the wind or if you are moving.

Thats why when you are really sweating and you stop moving, the heat almost overcomes you.

95% of my body cannot sweat anymore. It gets hot out, my body temp skyrockets. Fevers are an everyday thing for me in the summer.

During the winter, it drops. I've checked it at 95 a few times.

Contrary to popular belief, the better shape you're in, the quicker you'll start sweating, and the more you'll sweat when exercising.

It's just your body getting more adept at regulating it's temp.

How come when someone asks a difficult question the first 10 replies are "this isn't a homework help forum." But, when someone asks a really simple question that very well may be homework (8th grade health class perhaps? I'd think *everyone* beyond health class should know the answer to that one.)

But, I have a new hypothesis... every time someone screams "I'm not doing your homework for you!" they mean "I'm too stupid to answer that problem, but am going to make others think I'm superior by screaming to do your own homework."

Varies by person. If your body needs to sweat, it will seat and there's not a damned thing you can do about it.

Now, aside from that, sweating is meant to regulat your core body temperature, nothing more, nothing less.

Correct. Your body is better prepared for the stress of increased heat from increased metabolism, and begins sweating to regulate core temp more promptly. This is one of the many reasons fit folks have an "easier" time working out than out of chape folks - the body's responses are quicker and up to the level (or rather, nearly up to the level) of the stimulus they will be recieving.

I wouldn't think so. Your body just responds quicker - there isn't really any change in the mechanism. Just a standard positive feedback loop AFAIK.
