Isn't it rubbing alcohol and kleenex to remove it and then just a little bit on the core using a credit card to smooth it evenly throughout the core? Thanks for your input....

A soft cloth to remove the excess, and then rubbing alcohol and Q-Tips/soft cloth.

To add new paste (after the alcohol has dried) you can use anything that doesn't leave lint or anything else in it.

Yep..

Or you can use soap and water. Just make sure you fully dry it.

Works just fine.

However, rubbing alcohol dries much faster. 10 minutes top.

Just tag a good rag, put a just little alcohol on it, clean it, and you are done. The alcohol takes it right off.

Just on the core, and a thin covering. You do not want that stuff sqeezing out of the side when the heatsink go on it. Just try to get it "thicker paper thin" if you know what I mean.
