What is the problem?

Ok so Half Life 2 works great with my oc'ed x800xl and no matter what I do I get a good frame rate. One little problem though: when I enable 6x AA and run the video stress test with CS:S, some parts turn pink. It's only some parts, not all, which leads me to believe it's a problem with a single color. But the frame rate really isn't dropping all that much when compared to 4x, and everything else still looks and runs fine. Anyone know what the problem might be?

Could it be you have you card overclocked too much and enabling higher AA stresses the card more which causes the corruption?

Don't worry about it. I get this with the VST as well, even when I don't OC my card and I've heard this problem occur with other vid cards. It's not the drivers either since this has happened for pretty much every driver I've used. This seems to be a problem with the VST exclusively and not something cause by your video card . . . 🙂

The Pink stuff usually goes away after I restart the app . . . interestingly this happens with my 6800GT as well . . . so it's def. an issue with Valve's coding . . .

nah this is only when the AA settings are changed in the game. The pink stuff supposedly boosts your average frames by 2-3. either way to cure it you just retart the CS:S app. it also does not occur in-game.

Temps are fine on mine, they dropped at least 20C after I installed the zalman cooler. Thanks for the info guys, now I know that there isn't a problem with my hardware or anything. 😀
