What is the possible cause of indifference between the scores of benchmarks?

Ok I just received my GTX 970 (I previously owned GTX 670, both single no SLI). Was pretty excited.
Wanted to get blown away by running some of my oculus rift demos.
However, I realized its not that different.

This cant be.

So I ran a benchmark called "Resident Evil 6 bench mark".

These were results I got.

GTX 970 :

The only differences are the GPUs.
Sure the score was little better on 970 but that's not that much.
Is there any reason this may be?

here is my setup.

Win 7 64 bit

Samsung 840 EVO 480 GB
Intel Core i7-2600K
MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5
ASUS P8P67 PRO Rev 3.1 LGA 1155
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
Cooler Master 800W
Corsair Hydro Series H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CWCH80)

2x ASUS VW246H

Edit :
You know what I have P8P67 mobo which is only PCIe 2.0
This must be my bottleneck.
Would you think that may be it?

Edit 2 :
Since I have my bench everywhere.
Followings are my GTX 970 scores.

RE6 is badly CPU limited at that resolution.

yeah that benchmark is cpu limited in some areas which makes no sense as the actual game is not at all.

what are the exact settings you used and I will test with my 980 for comparison?

EDIT: hmm this is with all max settings at 1080 with stock 980. how am I getting over twice what you got? even your 670 score is really low going by the other 670 results I see.

Which cooler do you have on your CPU, do you have the stock one?

If you only have the stock cooler, you could always try to reach 4 Ghz.

And what is your CPU clock? If you are stock, then start overclocking up to 4.5 Ghz if you can.

Monitor the temps.

Here is the result of Unigine Valley.
Gonna try 3DMark free as well.

Have no experience overclocking here feel bit insecure.

What is LogMein Mirror driver in GPU section of Unigine Valley ?

Are you on a really old Windows installation?

Also, toyota linked you to the Unigine Valley thread where people run their benchmark at a much higher quality settings which is "Extreme HD", while you are only at "High".

He's running his 2600k CPU at stock
Everyone else is running their CPU's at 4 Ghz +

Don't know why you guys are trying to compare scores when there is a clear CPU gap so of course you'll get higher scores than he does.

Found this

I feel like they have inferior CPU...

Not only the CPU, no, you are suppose to get at least 55 - 60 fps in Unigine even with CPU at stock.

There is something else wrong.

How old is your windows installation? and what is LogMein Mirror driver?

Oh yea you asked this earlier. My bad

I think its couple of years.
I cloned the SSD from 120GB to 500GB.
May be I should clean install.

I do not know what you mean by LogMeIn Mirror Driver.
I stopped using it when they became shareware.

The 900 series cards do not do well on Unigine. A 780 is on par with a 970 in the valley benchmark. Look at (latest) 3dmark instead.

you have to be kidding. We are talking about 80 percent higher scores here and the CPU is not going to make hardly any difference at all.

I guess you're not really paying attention here. His score should be about 80 percent higher than what it is.

The first step is to remove that logmein mirror driver crap. A simple google search shows it causes GPU issues.
