Why do people take breaks or vacations (not imposed by mods) from ATOT?

Secondly, why do they always come back?

Sometimes people have an ounce of hope that if they go away for a bit, all the douchebags and assholes won't be there when they come back.

Or maybe they just realize they give a little to much time to the forums or get a little too involved.

I took a 3 day vacation once. But it was kinda like Ron White taking a break from a bar...

I took a couple of breaks throughout the years. Sometimes a person needs a break from this place, not anytime soon for me though.

And attention.

I've taken small breaks, not intentionally but because things in life kept me too busy. No one here has ever noticed and that's just the way I prefer it.

We take vacations because we realize that there are far more important things in life. Curiosity eventually takes over though and we come back. :(

same type of losers that feel the need that they have to read EVERY post.

This types are destined for mediocrity at best in life. It's doubtful their own parents would show up at their funerals.

WOW!
This is a fantastic coincidence.

I just did it for a couple months and I loved it. We actually have some halfway intelligent people outside OT.

But it does seem like all the assholes are still here. Plus me.
I guess my experiment was a waste.

Maybe if I departed again...........

I've taken brief vacations from AT... at least a few of them of my own mandate, and I can't remember whether any mods have given me a vacation or not... I don't think so.

I like to briefly (for a month or two) cut off contact with certain things (these forums, some other forums, certain people) on occasion, because it allows me to step back and think about life a little bit more. So far, though, it's done me no good, because I've never come to the conclusion that anything needs to change, so I resume my old habits, contacts, etc.

Taking vacations from AT and the internet aren't that bad. Whats bad is the fact that they have to announce it on the Message board before they go.

Topic: Im leaving ATOT for a while..

Yeah, like everyone is just dieing to know why you haven't logged on for x days. Really people, you aren't that important for the survival of AT.

I haven't taken one yet... but I'm sure it would improve my productivity.

this sums up my thoughts on it perfectly, although add in that i've been vacationed by the mods several times.

i think i've taken a few weeks here and there, and a 3-month stint where i hardly even went on the internet much.

the point was to just fill my time with other pursuits for a while.
