I don't understand why somebody would make a OS for "Christians". Do christians have some special computing needs that other people don't? :hmm:

Whats next? Windows Muslim Edition?

This makes sense for a church or Christian school type environment. They get a free OS, preset parental controls, and Christian software.

If you want to make fun a religious OS, make fun of TempleOS (http://www.templeos.org/) but be aware that the creator has some mental issues (iirc he's schizophrenic).

Yes. When the computer crashes it's because they're useless broken pieces of dung and god is angry at them. Instead of a blue screen of death it flashes a message to repent, reboot and rejoice.

"One of the great features of UCE is the inclusion of a popular firewall, preconfigured for parental control of harmful web content."

That'll never work, all the programs would just try to eliminate each others and nothing will ever be done by using the OS.

It could make a great pyrotechnic's OS for fireworks or building implosions.

Hit the "Praise Allah!" button and it fires off all the explosives.

Unfortunately, the laptop version would take the battery with it too, you want to use a stick or something. The PC version just uninstalls itself.

It represents an ideoligical 'category killer.' It is designed to put at ease the user's mind the entire category of computer technology with regard to adhering to the tenants of the religious philosophy it is intended to bolster. A user of this operating system will be able to forgive themselves / alleviate all guilt regarding PC use. For instance if they 'accidentally' found porn on a non Christian OS it would be a sin and a penance would have to be made. If it happens on this OS it was just a silly accident and no fucks have to be given.

A similar category killer would be any kind of religious garment that is proscribed to be worn such as the Mormon magic underwear or any of the black veils the Arab female or christian nuns wear. If any act of sexual abuse or rape occurs to a victim that is wearing it 100% correctly its like no big deal because its no longer their fault so rape is thus something that a wearer can simply never worry about.

It's not a bad OS, but it locks up from time to time when the processes accuse each other of heresy, and when it tries to elect an imam process the system just crashes.

He's a smart guy. It's not just another Linux fork. It's all new code from the kernel up. A shame he's whacko. A lot of projects could use his talents, and really get somewhere.

Wow... Is there actually a market for this software?

If so, maybe my idea for "Jesuscoin" cryptocurrency for Christians might take off after all!

Definitely. No different than making an "Education" edition, with preloaded apps and settings that are tailored to schools/universities/etc.

It's about convenience, something people are happy to pay for.

An ex girlfriend of mine's mother worked for a church organization based out of Ocala, FL. She did a lot of clerical and financial work for them, proud non christian but was friends with anyone who wasn't a fundie. She told us some pretty eye opening stories about certain congregations in central Florida. Church people getting caught looking at porn on church computers was a common event apparently. Even heard about a female minister who was caught having "a party" with 3 guys in a motel room near Inverness.

I guess churches by and large have needed something like this for awhile. Gotta save those god fearing men from the evils of the naughty lady bits!

Damn, Adblock has insulated me. How bout this?

With iOS7 Safari on iPhone, even that host is awful. I could see part of the image hovering in the page. Trying to zoom only made it disappear off the side. I had to save it before I could view it properly.

I just use my Dropbox /Public folder for a no-nonsense HTTP link directly to the file.
