What is the point of this cable?

If your output is a single mono signal, such as a sub pre-out on an amp, what's the point of outputting to left and right RCA? Does it split the mono signal across both RCA's? What's the point of that? My sub amp converts any input to mono. Just curious...

Outputting to more than one source. I've used cables like that to split the audio signal from my switchbox to my TV and speaker system.

I think you have it backwards. That would take a stereo signal and put left and right into one channel. :p

i used to have an old commodore monitor. that only have one rca input. so i have to use that cable to connect my amiga 500 to it.

now i'm using a ps1 for that monitor in my game room.

I'm just reading about some audio-related boards and seeing people do it the opposite way. Wondering why in the world you'd want to do that lol.

I use one for my sub in my home. It has two line level (L&R) inputs, and my reciever has one.

THAT'S what I'm wondering about. Why? My sub amp converts the L&R inputs to mono internally, so it seems pointless to use 2 RCAs when 1 RCA would do the job.
