I definately need a new motherboard, and I would not mind the new Plextor 8x DVD+RW 4x DVD-RW drive.

Video card.
My GF3 Ti200 works fine for now, but I want to be able to run HL2, BF: Vietnam, and MOH: Pacific Assault on high details with full AA and AF. I want a 9800 Pro.

But I'll probably wait to upgrade until I can afford to upgrade the mobo, cpu, and RAM also.
BFV and MOH:pA won't be out until next year anyway.
And HL2 is supposed to scale well, so it should be very playable on my Ti200 even if I can't jack up the settings.

SCSI card.

I have a U2W RAID (yes, hardware RAID) card that seems to be having driver issues when I attach a HD to it, so I only have 50 pin optical drives on it. Kind of a waste of a card.

I have a kick ass computer so the thing right now I would most want to change is to go from my 19" CRT to a 21" LCD

I'd like to change whatever is crashing my computer every 5 minutes, with all the testing of hardware done over labor day weekend, I'm pretty sure it's the whole computer.

my burner is only 12x but burns at 8x (iomega, really a rebadged plextor... so its hard to give it up)

sound card is an SB Live Value.

video card is a 3dfx 3500 TV.

I wish I had a cable connection again...this new wireless service I'm using sucks donkey balls. The good thing is that it's cut my internet usage in half, but now it takes 3x as long to check my e-mail and accounts.

Either 512MB more RAM (giving me a gig) or a WD Raptor SATA hard drive and SATA controller card...

video card for sure (i'm using an all-in-wonder radeon), planning on replacing it with either the all-in-wonder 9600 pro when it's available or the all-in-wonder version of the R420...after that, some logitech z-680 speakers to replace my creative 5200

My memory/storage subsystem needs an upgrade. I'd like to add 2 512MB modules for 1.5GB of RAM, and get a LSI MegaRAID 320-2 controller with 4 36GB 15kRPM Fujitsu SCSI drives. Of course, I'd need a new case to be able to house all four drives (not to mention US$2000)... :sigh;

So what would you guys like to change?

hey, cool to see another k7s5a user out there. i love that board. finally upgraded to a p4 earlier this summer for about the same reasons you listed - wanted usb2.0, firewire, and also more fps.

re/what i'd upgrade ... tough call. things i'm lusting for right now, in no particular order:

- upgrade mem (currently have 2x corsair 512MB XMS PC3200 but it has issues running at SPD on my IS7 mobo). i'd love to trade up to mushkin and see how far this board/cpu can overclock!
- upgrade dvd-rw. currently have pioneer a05, would like to get pioneer a06 which supports +rw as well).
- upgrade printer. currently have canon i550, but the i950 looks really sweet - 1/2 the size ink drops and 6-color instead of 4!
- upgrade vid card. currently have an ati 9500 with the extra pipelines unlocks, it's a sweet card, but i'd love to get a real, honest to gosh 9800 pro!
- upgrade scanner. i just got the new epson 3170 and love it, but i need a document feeder for it. i scan a lot of docs and doing it one page at a time is a pain!

what i'll probably get next is the scanner doc feeder 'cause it'll save me tons of time; what i'd like to get next is the video card!
