Firefox burned the competition.

IE tries to define their own standards of coding. So now, it's just like 3 years ago when we were coding multiple websites because of Netscape 4.77, except IE is the devil this time. They havent released a real next version of IE in a long time, all they do is update their security holes.

Netscape is basically mozilla.

Mozilla is basically firefox with extras.

Firefox is number 1... and there is no number 2.

Please refrain from providing advice until you have at least 100 posts. Its assumed the new users here might actually give logical, practical and helpful advice and thereby ruin the Off Topic portion of Anandtech. Once you have 100+ posts its assumed your IQ has been at least halved from the bombardment of ATOT idiocy, and you'll be safe to give unsound, unhelpful and generally innaccurate advice right along with the rest of us
;)

And welcome to the forums :)

Opera destroys firefox, and Ive used them both. Opera is seriously like 10 times faster. You wouldnt even think your browser is slow until you use it, you'd probably just assume its youre connection, but its not.

I wouldnt even consider using anything other than opera. I seriously doubt theres anything useful you could do in firefox that you couldnt do better in opera.

Edit:
oh well, apparently that's not original, so i'm gonna add:

try using IE with the 'plugin' type add-on such as AvantBrowser or MyIE2. they're cool, and you can have all of the features that you've got in Firefox, and some.

I'd rather have an Ad banner than use IE ever again, hell I'd rather pay than ever have to use IE again...

/me uses Opera btw in case you hadn't guessed ;)

The new Opera is quite nice and sleek.

Still prefer IE though; just there and fast..but I use them all.

What about standards? Maybe 1 out of every 10000 pages I go to cant be viewed properly by opera, and Im sure that same page cant be handled by firefox either. That why its good to keep ie around for times like that.

IE makes their own standards and doesnt follow the W3C. Last time I used Opera, they weren't keeping true to the W3C either. Perhaps that has changed.

I know Opera is good, but since the free version is adware, i'd have to say Avant Browser as a distant second to Firefox.
