What Is The Name of This OLD Space Game

Back around '94 or '95 I had a "space game" on 3.5" floppy. I can't remember the name of it for the life of me but would like to find it again to play!

The screen had a dark blue/black background with an array of planets. I believe the point of the game was to expand across the planets & defend them from incoming attacks. You had to scout the planets, mine them & build defenses. You could build radar stations to warn of incoming attacks. I remember it being very fun but could not beat it b/c I only had the demo version.

Does anyone happen to know what the name of this old game is??? (being stuck in a hotel for work makes you remember some strange things)

Thanks!

That actually looks very close in concept but don't remember it being so "nice". IIRC, I don't think it had the different mutlicolored screens.

I may have to give that one a try too... thanks!

Sounds like MOO, but you said that wasnt it.
Back in the mid 90's there were a shitload of space games but many have since been forgotten.

The main screen is close to Reach for the Stars but with a real background and only one player. Like the MOO screen without the infocenter on the right.

GAH! This is killing me. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

1994 is when I graduated High School. I didn't game back then. Well, Super Nintendo I did. :)

Of course, the first game I've played on PC was Countdown. DAMN trying to escape that asylum was a real pita.

Holy crap, it's called Countdown! I've been trying to remember the name of this game for months!! I even thought about making a thread for it just like this but somehow I never did. All I can remember about that game is that I had amnesia in a hospital, and had to find a way to get out real quick or be lobotomized and forget everything forever.

I can't even remember if I ever finished it. I just vaguely remember finding a knife in the first room and then getting out and go from room to room avoiding the guard.

That sounds a lot like Flashback, that was an awesome game.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! Unfortunately, still haven't found it yet :(

It probably looks closest to this in Masters of Orion:

Master&

With without all the colors; just blue and black for the galaxy IIRC. I don't *think* it had an info center on the side.

There's also Armada 2525, a precursor to Master of Orion. Though from your game play description it sounds a lot like Reach for the Stars.
