What is the name of this "bracket" on my license plate

My car's license plate (a 97 maxima) has these squares that a clip fits around and i can screw the license plate into them. What is the name of the clip bracket? sorry if im being vauge...

They're called license plate brackets unless you're referring to the frame that dealers usually put on.

Ahh. You know, I never thought about the name for those. I always just called them clips.

Yeah me too. Maybe screw clips, threaded clips, I dunno.

I'm not sure what they are called, but they are also on my wife's 95 Altima. Whenever changing plates I refer to them as "Pain in the asses".

WTF was the guy thinking that designed these things...
