We say stuff happened in the 80's or 90's, but what about for what happens from 2000 to 2010? I believe it's called the "otts", but I don't think I'm spelling it right. Does anyone know the true spelling or perhaps what the real term is?

It's otts or tens I think. I can't spell the prior either.

Dullard wins:

ought3 (ôt) pronunciation
n.

Variant of aught2.

aught2 also ought (ôt) pronunciation
n.

1. A cipher; zero.
2. Archaic. Nothing.

I don't think it makes a difference, the only people who say that are radio stations and they can say "the 80s 90s and today".

Next decade it will be "hits from the 90s, yesterday, and today!"

I created calling it the zero years.

Up until 2010 anyway.

the two-thousands, or the oh-ohs. I just don't see 'aughts' coming back into common usage, even if it's rationally the best choice (because it is consistent with the past).

They way the decade is shaping up, we could look back and call it the 'Oh-ohs.'
