At a restaurant? I don't know, maybe 40-50. I'd rather buy prime ribeye steaks at Costco instead and grill them at home. I'd feed the whole family for the about same cost as that $60 6oz Kobe Filet Mignon.

$10/oz for Kobe is a good price. I've seen more like $25/oz in the DC area.

Is it Waygu ("American Kobe") or the real deal? I've only had the American version (in short rib form), and it's really good. Definitely not knocking it.

I tend to put food above just about any other discretionary expense, so I'd do it. But I really like to try new things. Someone else might spend it on a new heatsink or something, so to each his own.

The most I've spent is probably about $35 at a place known around here as one of the best in the DC area. I'd really like to hit Capital Grille or Charlie Palmer's one day, but I've eaten too many steaks so I'd rather spend my restaurant $$ on things I haven't yet tried.

Kobe beef is Wagyu. Nothing special about the name, unless it's that the cow barely moves.

i can go to local butcher shop and get a few ribeye's or porterhouse's. yumm

I very rarely have steak at a restaurant... too simple to have a nice steak dinner at home with good steaks from a good butcher.
Restaurants = meals that would be a pita to make for myself.

Which doesn't mean anything one way or another. It's how they're raised (some people argue even that), not where they're raised.

$ 49.00 - Smith and Wollensky's, Boston. Best steak I'd ever had. Tasted better because I didn't pay for it I think though.

Although does a buffet that charges $60 per head but serves steak count? Cause I definitely had steak there. Then again, I also had a little of everything =p

Least I've paid was $7 for some of the finest steak of I've had. College FTW
