$10/oz for Kobe is a good price. I've seen more like $25/oz in the DC area.
Is it Waygu ("American Kobe") or the real deal? I've only had the American version (in short rib form), and it's really good. Definitely not knocking it.
I tend to put food above just about any other discretionary expense, so I'd do it. But I really like to try new things. Someone else might spend it on a new heatsink or something, so to each his own.
The most I've spent is probably about $35 at a place known around here as one of the best in the DC area. I'd really like to hit Capital Grille or Charlie Palmer's one day, but I've eaten too many steaks so I'd rather spend my restaurant $$ on things I haven't yet tried.
