Don't know why you limit it to consoles.

Doom and Wolf3D paved the way for FPS on all systems, PC and consoles alike. Goldeneye wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for these two.

This game when it first came out was the most ground breaking game IMO. it was the first game to truly utilize a 3D world where you could go anywhere and just had so much freedom. It was also the first game (i believe) to use an analog stick on a controller.

I remember the feeling I had when I played Mario 64 at Toys R Us a month before it was available to purchase at the little kiosks. I probably played it at toys r us for 10+ hours total.

No other game has ever given me that same feeling as I first had when playing Mairo 64. The game is just a masterpiece.

  fully agreed

Basically everything that I think has already been brought up. Starfox (SNES), and Mario 64 were the two most groundbreaking console games ever.

I also remember playing Mario 64 in a Blockbuster Video before it was released. It was amazing, being able to move freely in a 3D world like that was something I had never really experienced before. It's still one of the best games of all time IMO.

No one will agree with me, but FF7.

The game came out in '97 and I played the crap outta it back then, I just started playing it again because it's so good.
