i think i'd say the drive array myself... even with all those seagate rebates those must have added up to several hundred dollars at time of purchase.

monitors are a peripheral so don't count :p

$240 on the video card in Feb. of last year. Still meets recommended specs for most games I play, and after I replace it, the TV tuner part of it will still see use for some time.

Server? HD no question
Workstation? Hmm.... interestingly its likely the MB... $175. GPU is $120. CPU ~ $150 (but OCs worht more than $500 :))
