I am still sure its the horizontal bikes. with vertical (body position) you can only exert so much force (on the pedals) in relationship to your weight, wheres a horizontal position you have something against your back and this allows you to use the full strength of your muscles without moving.

Lurch, two things. 1. I love your statement, "Recumbent bicycles are more aerodynamic. This is both true and false." Are you by any chance a lawyer? Second, I wish you had made your profile available. Forgetting about your information, which was wonderful, anyone using the name "LurchFrinky" should have a profile going to give us a little more insight.
