Wow, before I read the replies in this thread, I was thinking that the most depressing moment in sports for me was my finish in a triathlon due to an incredibly poor performance in the 3rd stage.

After reading this thread, I'm thinking that you guys need to stop worshiping professional athletes so much and get off your couch.

When I discovered that there's a "sport" called Curling, and it's played in the Olympic.

Good one.

Never have understood how something like this can be considered an Olympic sport, and others like bowling or golf, with FAR more participants world-wide are not.

what about speed walking?

Oilers. 2005/06. Game 7, Stanley Cup Final.

Pronger sucking, and Samsonov with drop passes to no one in particular.

Make no mistake about it, they were supposed to win that series. With Roloson going down and Markkanen coming in and standing on his head, and the Oilers taking it to 7 after being down 3-1.... yeah. They should have won that series.
If it weren't for Buffalo's wonderful luck in the world of professional sports, Carolina wouldn't have even been in the finals.

TRUE! "No Goal" is my worst moment in professional sports! Brett Hull can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned. GO BILLS and SABRES

1999 Belmont Stakes, Charismatic. Won the Derby at incredible odds, won the Preakness at long odds, was set to win the Belmont but broke a leg coming around the final curve with his jockey desperately trying to pull him up and still finished third. Chris Antley finally pulls him to a stop after the finish, falls off the horse in tears and grabs his leg, trying to keep it off the ground.

Oh thats easy, home team vikings who have never won a superbowl have a great season.

Gary Anderson has never missed a field goal all year, perfect season for him

35 yard field goal for the win vs. the falcons, next game would be the superbowl

Gary Anderson misses, we lose.

when Jordan retired ... the first time.

i just haven't ever gotten back into the NBA like I was back then, although this year I am into it a lot more than I had ever been in the past 15 years.

The NHL strike
The Chiefs threatening to leave KC if KC doesn't raise taxes to pay for stadium improvements.

I was at that game. Pretty much everyone expected him to make it and the stadium was so quiet it you could probably hear a cough from across the bowl. When he missed the place went NUTS. Loudest thing I've ever heard.
