Just out of curiosity, does anybody know what the max output power (in watts) the 3 pin fan headers in the ip35 pro mb or any board for that matter put out? I am planning to run a couple of fans that should use about 6 watts from these headers and was just wondering what the limit is... always good to know that kind of stuff.

From what I understand, Abit's Uguru (or whatever it's called) would allow me to change the fan speeds from within the bios, if this is true then I guess I wouldn't need to buy a fan controller.

It depends upon the motherboard. My Supermicro X5DAE mobo had a max output of 1.5 amps. I would contact the manufacturer and find out from them.

I'd stay under 0.5 Amp per connector unless I was sure of a higher limit.

So if i were to take 0.5 amps as a conservative max, this would mean a max of 6 watts (12V x 0.5 amps = 6 watts). I should be okay then. I will contact Abit though just to be sure.

Any fan with a 3-pin header will work. The only thing I wouldn't do is somehow rig a Vantec Tornado or some other disgustingly high RPM fan on it.

These connectors are MOSFETs driven. I've pulled up to 15 watts from one header. Output waveform looks good on the scope. Be sure you have a down draft CPU cooler to reduce board temperature.
