from sf to china.. i think it was beijing or shanghai that we landed at... 12-14 hours.. i forget.. i don't mind riding in planes as long as i have somethign to do.. cathay pacific has individual tv screens for each seat, and your choice of programming.. i think i watched "a beautiful mind" like 4 times on the way back.. it was actually quite enjoyable, and i love plane food

You guys with 24+ hour flights, are they non-stop?
Longest I've been on was about 14 hours NY to Tokyo with a 2 hour delay due to weather.

Humm, let's see. This is back in 1983 so I don't know if it is better now. Taipei->Tokyo->Vancouver->Lima->Buenos Aires. I think it was about a day and half.

Longest single flight was probably when I was being flown out to the Philippines in 82, and we went from Anchorage, Alaska (Elmendorf AFB) to Okinawa, Japan on the second leg of the trip (first leg was Oakland to Elmendorf, and 3rd leg was Okinawa to Clark AFB in the Philippines). That leg was probably ~12 hours long, give or take an hour. Total time from leaving Oakland, CA to ending up at Clark AFB followed closely by a bus ride to Subic Naval Base, was ~24 hours. And I've never been able to sleep on an airplane! Needless to say, I was rather jet-lagged & just bone tired when we got to Subic! :Q

The longest total flight was likely in 94, when I flew from Guam (one time zone east of the Philippines) to Norfolk, VA, with stops in Hawaii, LA & Chicago, then had to drive 2 hours to northern Virginia to partake in a 2 week training class. Luckily I noticed that my work was going to fly me into Virginia, arriving on a Sunday afternoon, and threw a fit..... got 'em to move the flight back a day, so I wouldn't sleep thru the first day of class!! I took vacation stops a few times on the way back (sister in NY, parents wintering in AZ, and other sister in Hawaii), so that wasn't as bad. :)

I think my Mom flew from Chicago to Hawaii, non-stop, and said that flight lasted something like 13 hours. Dang, talk about ready to get off a plane! :disgust:

Ok guys connections = hax and thats not flight time. It's all about nonstop flights, and I'm sure most of you don't travel Asia all that often.

13:43 from LA to Taipei. Subtract 1 hr to fly from SFO, but I keep flying from LAX now for some strange reason (even though I'm from the Bay Area.. yes I waste 1 hr taking Southwest down only to waste another hour on the overseas flight).

SFO to Tokyo is only like 10ish hours, not too bad. JFK to Helsinki is about 7ish hours. Those are medium/long hops for me, but I've flown to Guangzhou from LAX which is pretty much like flying to HK. Flight time is about 15 hours. LAX to Aukland is about 16ish hours and I plan to fly that leg pretty soon.
