What is the lens set you all recomend getting instead of the one that comes with the Rebel?

My wife has that one, it's the lens we use the most by far. Her 50mm f/1.4 probably gets the least use, but it is good for portraits.

That's a nice range and fast. Too bad no reviews. After I got the Canon 17-40f4L, I sometimes miss the bit of extra range from the stock lens.
