It was a couple months ago, but I ordered these cds from bloodsoaked.net

This is pretty much all the death metal, black metal, and grindcore.

How can you listen to that stuff? It's all the same and it's all ear-wrenching :p

To me it just seems like a parody of real music.

Well, some of the grindcore stuff is paridious (is that a word?)
However, most of the death metal is extremely technical, and the black metal, I just like how it sounds. Though there are quite a few "black" metal bands I can't stand (ie Dimmu Borgir or cradle of filth) however those are really just overhyped goth bands. I listen to a lot of other music too, Power Metal, Progressive Metal, Stoner Rock, Hard Rock, Doom Metal, Thrash Metal, Folk Metal, and some Goth Rock bands (Type-O for example). I also listen to the ocassional classical Piece. (Beethoven's 9th Rox0rs). Heck, I even tolerate country and blues.

I do loath some types of "music" though (i quote the word music as they are not music to my ears). I hate Rap and "metalcore".

Death to false metal!

Matthew Good - White Light Rock and Roll Review. I bought it and it was well worth the $11.

An Evening With John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess

It's a splendid album, I love it, but a warning before you try to "acquire" - it's nothing like Dream Theater prog/metal stuff, so if you don't think you'd be into piano/guitar instrumentals, then don't bother.

The last album I bought was Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf. Great album. The first song is probably my least favorite one on the album, but even it's still pretty good. The last song, supposedly a "hidden track" (though it's printed on the back of the CD, so I hardly see how that's hidden), is Mosquito Song, which is completely unlike anything else on the entire album, and is just a completely awesome piece of music. It's such a cool song that we played it at my wedding reception, which incidentally, was on Halloween. :)
