Wow, I totally forgot about Battletoads. Awesome game...but hard as shit in the underground racing where you jump the ramps. Although Super Ghouls And Ghosts is still my top pick.

Maybe Devil May Cry 3 "PS2" also.

I had Blaster Master as well. And I just loved that "car" "hovercraft" whatever it was. But it was great.

Also while not the hardest game, The Double Dragon series offered alot of challenges as well.

I got up to level eight in Blaster Master but that game was just way to freaking hard. It was a great game though.

I beat the xbox Ninja Gaiden on normal and the 360 Ninja Gaiden 2 on normal. I'm not quite gutsy enough to try them on the harder settings, they were difficult enough on normal. In Ninja Gaiden 2 my game kept locking up on a video on like level 11 or 12 and I even exchanged the disk and it didn't work. I thought I was gonna have to start over and I almost cried. A game update fixed it luckily like 2 weeks later.

I remember having a friend tell me that Viewtiful Joe was crazy hard, never tried it myself though.

Demon's Souls has a few incredibly hard boss fights unless you try to cheese them and take the fun out of it. Also, Demon's Souls is the best game this gen.

I see this one a lot but can't figure out why. If we are talking about Contra for the NES, when I was 13, I could make 3 run throughs on one man. The only thing I used was the arcade stick with turbo on. The game is nothing but a big pattern that doesn't change for shit.

Now, if we are talking the arcade version. Then yes, that game was hard.

That's why. I have arcade Contra on Live, and it's much more difficult than I remember when playing on the NES back in the day.

OMG. Yes!! I played and played and FINALLY got to the end and the end boss and beat him, and come to find out..there was some damn chalice you had to find that was randomly hidden in the game in order to win it. Ugh. I promptly burned that cart.

Battletoads was a close 2nd. Oh how I loved that game.
