Babylon 5 for proving that North American audiences indeed have the attention span for massive story arcs, pioneering CGI for television, and just having some of the best writing in years.
Law & Order for opening the door to the kind of gritty police drama that's now a staple on TV. And to think they were wanting to pull the plug on it after the first year because so many advertisers pulled out. (Literally, it was too harsh and real for many).
Twilight Zone, no question.
Simpsons, certainly a ground breaker. The edge it allowed other shows to have can't be underestimated.
For my all time fav... toss up between B5 and L&O.
