Popeye on Atari 2600.

First computer game was Winnie the Pooh and the hundred acre wood or Mickey's Space Adventure on my Tandy 1000ex.

Geez, you guys are making me feel old. I used to do laser light shows back in the early 60's, and produce music and stuff. We used to play "pong" on the oscilloscopes backstage - I don't know how early pong happened, but it was definately there before the early 60's.

I did a lot of work in boston and the electro-music, laser-experimenter, early-computer guys had a game I think called Space Wars. It was like a dot and two lines (or, a line and two dots?) and the line was a spaceship and the dots were things to avoid. I don't remember how we controlled it - up and down toggle switches, I think. I know there was a punch card version of it that you could feed into the timeshare and watch - the people in charge hated that, though, so you'd lose your card time.

/returns to another rousing round of solitaire

Commodore... I can't quite recall the title of the game, but the character that you would play looks like Woodstock (the bird from Peanuts) and you had to navigate around some kinda maze... I was addicted to it around age 5.

I remember some sort of Mountain Cliber game where you had to go up the mountain and avoid the bears. But they had a glowing ball under their foot you could get for extra points. It was something on some sort of cartridge system but have no idea what it was.

Space Invaders (black and white before the coloured strips) on an Arcade machine

Or If you meant on a home console then it was either Pong or Tanks on the Atari VCS 2600 (can't remember which one I played first)

Squash on a Sinclair. Forgot the details. Played at a friend's place, hooked up the machine to the tv, inserted the 60-minute audio cassette...

I played Space Invaders in the arcade. That was my first game I ever played.

As for the first game I played at home, that would be pong and Outlaws on the Atari 2600.

this thread almost acts as an age indicator too ^^
for me I think it was Oregon Trail on an Apple II... or maybe Choplifter on an Apple. Choplifter was awesome... so good there are still current remakes with just better graphics and same concept.
