I'm guessing Super Mario Bros on the original NES, but I"m not totally sure.
Actually it was probably something in the arcade. I used to love this one jet fighter game for the original SEGA.

some atari game with a little guy jumping over a flame, and then he would try to run around and grab stuff, and try not to get burned by the dragon.

Another 70s Ponger, here.

First arcade video game was Space Invaders. Even at age 9, I figured out that the Space Invaders machine at my local WalMart would give free games if I whacked the coin return.

Enduro? I don't remember that one using the paddle controllers, but maybe it did. Awesome game, having to get through the course within a specified timeframe. If you completed it, you got to go through it again, but with less time on the clock.

I was so young I honestly couldnt tell you, but it was probably a very old arcade game, back in 1983.
