140. I was Passenger, 1987 Iroc Z, one the first with the 5.7. Scary, after 130 the telephone poles looked like a picket fence. I believe he could have got more. Damn that.

~105 MPH or so, '08 Fusion. It definitely had more in it but I'm kind of a pussy.

You sure that wasn't in a Hot Rod Lincoln?

Now the boys all thought that I'd lost my sense
And telephone poles looked like a picket fence
They said "Slow down, I see spots!"
The lines on the road just looked like dots.

My Maserati does 185. There, do I win the e-peen thread?

No, because Schadenfroh beat you to it.

1969 442 W30 convert was my fastest car.....topped it out racing a Hemi Cuda back in 1974 in the southbound I-95 express lanes around 2AM, but have no real idea how fast that was. Figure it was over 130.......

I buried the speedometer needle on my '68 Cutlass. Probably close to 130. That was some scary shit, honestly.

I've also topped out at 99mph in my 2001 F150. Governor limited, but it was only turning a little over 4000 RPM, so I knew it would do more. Maybe 110 or 120. 99mph in that truck felt like 70mph, smooth as glass.

I was riding with my mom when she tried pacing a cop one time in her 2002 Eclipse GT. We hit 135 or so and the cop car was still opening the distance.

Both the Cutlass and the F150 speed runs were late night (like 11pm) but the 135 in the Eclipse was broad daylight around 8am.

About a 125 MPH in a 1964 Plymouth Sports fury. Four on the floor and a 383 Cu inch 4 barrel. I maybe could have gone faster but with out any spoiler the rear end was feeling very very light. The stupid things we do when we are young and foolish. Dead straight road in the middle of the night. Oh well, once is enough.

You're a friggin' nutball...220 km/h on that stretch of hwy 99? I'm hoping it was around 2 am.

Also, I'm surprised that a Matrix can do 230 km/h - any mods?

It was actually about 3:30am on the 99 :) was my bro's first car and he couldnt drive stick, so i was showing off, i remember getting on the highway just on the ladner side of the tunnel and ripping through the gears as i started through the tunnel, my bro was in the passanger seat going holy crap how fast are we going and i was like i have no idea i buriied the needle right after i hit topped 3rd and hit 4th, its in 5th now and the needle was almost back to 0.

As for the Matrix its bone stock, its my girlfriends car and i HATE WITH A PASSION driving it. Its got the larger 2.4L engine not the base model 1.8L and also has a 5 speed auto not the 4 speed like the base model. The exhaust is so quiet and it shifts so smoothly its so easy to speed as you really just dont realize its silently working through the gears, way to easy to just creep up to 80-100 in a 50 zone and not realize it. Its even smooth at 200kph+ with the summer tires on it, having W rated tires helps alot with stability and ride quality when you get over 200kph. Still hate driving it though.

115 in my 06 Buick Lacrosse, but only because its governed. At the rate the car was accelerating I'd say it could do about 140. This was on a freeway in Arizona with no one around and we hadn't seen a cop in some 800 miles.

299 km/h indicated on my Honda Fireblade. GPS showed about 270...
But top speed doesn't thrill me anymore..give me a nice curvy mountain road, now that's pure bless on a motorcycle.

Ah, so the 'stang was up over 240 then - very nice, and a bit stupid :p.

Sounds like the Matrix is a pretty smooth ride. Maybe the auto makes it boring, but I don't really see the issue otherwise?

By the looks of your temp sensor...you have a little problem. Has the car overheated yet ? :)
 Yes, the damn coolant hose blew off and right after this picture was taken the car pretty much blew up from running without coolant.

Aw man it was awful, a shitty $5 hose that cost me the whole engine.

Yeah its probaby the auto, i always owned sticks and will only buy stick cars. I think alot of it is im so used to my own car which has a custom exhaust(not loud but not quiet) that the silent and smooth ride of the matrix throws me off. In my car i can tell you exactly how fast im going just by knowing which gear im in and the sound of the engine tells me the rpms so i can figure my speed without a speedo. In the matrix im constantly checking the speedo to make sure im not speeding and its a pain in the ass, in my car I just leave it in third and cruise around town with no worries about speeding. Cruise control is great and all but not so useful in town as on the highway. I think i would like the matrix alot more if it had a louder exhasut so i could judge speed better.
