I want to hold off on buying a new motherboard until I can get one with Serial ATA support as well as USB 2.0

I'm currently running a Celeron II 566 Overclocked to 850. I'd like to get the fastest CPU I can possibly put in this board to hold me over until the motherboard I want is available.

What P!!! (I know they are significantly better than the C2 dues to associative cache) processor can I put in this motherboard? It doesn't necessarily need to be offically supported by Abit....I just need it to work :)

Here is the rest of my config:

Abit BH6 1.01 SS BIOS
Celeron II 566 @ 850 Mhz/1.7v - Golden Orb Cooler
Windows 2000 Professional SP-1
256 MB RAM Mushkin PC133 Mosel Rev. 2 CAS2
AGP ELSA Gladiac Geforce2 GTS 32MB DDR
PCI-1: Netgear FA310TX 10/100 NIC-Home LAN
PCI-2: Maxtor (aka Promise) Ultra/100 ATA Controller 2.01 BIOS
PCI-3: Intel Pro/100 10/100 NIC-Cable Modem
PCI-4: SBLive! Value
PCI-5: Empty. Non-BusMaster Slot
Ultra/100 Primary Controller: 30GB IBM 75GXP September 2000 Phillipines
Ultra/100 Secondary Controller: 30GB IBM 75GXP November 2000 Thailand
M/B Primary ATA33 Controller: Toshiba SD-M1402 12x DVD / 40x CD-ROM ATA33
M/B Secondary ATA33 Controller: Plextor PlexWriter 12/10/32A

Thanks,
Clocker

Why bother?? Save your money for a new board/cpu. The BH6 is a nice board, but who wants to spend hundreds of dollars on a PIII 1 GH that may not work. Then you would have to buy a new board to use it in. You wouldn't want to buy a board for an "old" processor like the PIII 1GHz, when you could get an exotic DDR wonder board very soon. The C566@850 is fine for 99% of things, there is always going to be something faster, bigger, cooler. Spend your $$ on that, not upgrading the BH6. R.

yea the BH6 is great but I agree. It doesn't support ATA100 or 66 or 4x AGP. No Raid controller, Hell it really doesn't support 133MHz memory. I love the BH6 but if I was going to upgrade to 1GHz I would just go with a new MB also.

you might want to consider selling your bh6 and getting the sh6, something you can sell also towards the new board you want, I am hoping to get a sh6 since there is sill some upgrade potential for it.
