What is the fastest CPU I can shoehorn in a Abit BE6-II?

i think 1000mhz with the bios upgrade...i run the 850 on my board ..i keep it for a stand by i have a 2400xp+ on the albatron kx 400+
 
I have the same board. When I upgraded 8 months ago, I picked up the 1.0Ghz Celeron, which was the fastest speed you could get at the time. CHeck the bios revision notes and they should tell you when CPU speeds they support.

Looks like P3 1.1Ghz is the fastest.

Actually you can fit a tualatin in a slot 1 bx board, it just takes a little bit of work. Basically you can use a modification trick so that BX boards can accept the tualatin chips. Read this! This guy can actually be found in the FS/FT forums under "jmsandrsn" where he was selling some already modified slockets and chips, so it would be just a drop in. You can also get adapters from Powerleap to run the tuals. These are a bit expensive to buy bc they sell them only with the cpu's as well. You might be able to find one FS, but they are quite rare. I actually found one, and plugged a new cely 1.0A from newegg ($43 retail) for my P3B-F, and it bumped right up to 1500 mhz on default voltage. Very nice 😀. Runs quick as hell. Not bad for a board I bought 5 yrs ago!

I saw those. That is pretty cool. Its about time someone came out with a good price on this type of slocket instead of the silly $70 Powerleap tries to get. Yes, that and a Tually 1.4 is a sweet upgrade for a slot 1 rig!
 
The only advantage the Powerleaps have is that they have their own power supplies and some older mobo's may have problems with the additional power draw. But Tualatins run cool anyway so its probably a non-issue with most motherboards out there.
 
Hey that is pretty cool! And for only $20! To buy a new powerleap is rediculously expensive, they want nearly $200 for thier adapter and a 1.4 celly. I was lucky to buy one for cheap here, but this def looks like a good alternative. Has anyone tried one of these yet? I have another bx sitting around, and I don't really feel like hacking my MSI master....

My only complaint with the powerleap is that they didn't build a thermosistor (sp?) into the slocket, so you can't read the temps of your cpu! Their service dept (which was really fast) replied back to me that "thier supplied systems will operate within normal temp ranges, so no temp monitoring is needed (or some bs)" :disgust: How stupid is that? Good product aside from that, and the retail price.
 
I have two arriving this Friday so I'll let you know how it goes. Yes, it really bothers me that I cannot monitor CPU temps with the Powerleap adapters:frown:
 
Let us know if you get this working. I have two Abit BX motherboards that I'll try to keep alive as long as possible (533@850, Slotkey & 1g, Slot1).

Just got the Upgradeware Slotkets. Two works fine in a dual setup (Intel OR840 motherboard) and another is running fine with an Asus P3C-LS mobo. And they do allow the motherboard to read temps and core voltages🙂. This is as painless as it gets so its highly recommended.
