What is the easiest way to paint something to look like marble?

buy those wallpaper type covers (dunno the exact term) from like home depot or something.

I had some plain wood and covered it in "italian black marble". It's pretty much just a big sticker you put on the wood.

there are painting techniques that pull this off fairly well. but i wouldn't call them "easy". they involve painting veins with a small pencil brush on top of sponge and rag work. PITA, but very doable if you have the time. only seen it on drywall, not sure about wood but seems possible.
