Friend had to take a piss while in my tin can of a car and I wouldn't stop soon enough for him.. he grabs the wheel from the top and pulls it all the way down while we're doing 70mph because he wants to pull over, on a two lane highway with no median. Car starts to drift toward some big bastard trees and we're headed right towards them, I managed to jerk the wheel and go with the skid, spinning the car 180 degrees facing the opposite direction, staying in the same lane the whole time. Fortunately we didn't drift toward the semi truck passing in the oncoming lane and the cars behind us were paying attention and stopped before smashing into us head on.

This was properly followed with "Well, did you piss yet?"

I never really thought of that but I suppose he should've wet himself. After we stepped out of the car I punched him in the jaw and he fell down, got up and took a leak. Him, another friend and I laughed about how close we came to dying the whole ride home

Living in Québec, I see it all the time. (speed in kph)

My dad is a fast driver, despite the only cars in our parking lot being a 2001 Suzuki Swift and a 2005 Chevy Aveo (Swift).

Anyways, Coming home from Halifax, we were on TC-2 in New Brunswick. We were doing 160 (100mph) with the Aveo. Went to pass a Dodge Ram doing 140, and he sped up to 160. My dad then sped up to 180 (~110mph). Then the Ram gave up :S

On A-20 We had a few treats. The one-man riding roadblock (riding on center line). Another person in a Ford Ranger whipped past us and slammed on the brakes shortly after. Never knew my dad could curse like that.

Highway 102 in NS was pretty good, though.

Then there was another instance of "The Big Race". This was with the Swift which has quite a bit more poop then the Aveo. This was with a PT Cruiser where the highway was starting to merge into a super-2. My dad let's him in, the guy doesn't budge. So my dad floors it and and the PT Cruiser does the same. Then my dad put it in 4th and passed the PT Cruiser.

There is also a Traffic Circle near where I live. We came across one guy that drove OVER it.

I've seen plenty of people just run the red light after stopping for it, waiting for about 30 seconds, and then just GO. Yeah...NJ.

Heh, that's a way of life in places like Brazil and Mexico. Hell, they'll go around you and others, in the wrong lane, just to run the light.

Also, I was biking down the 148 once. There is this tiny little bike path right beside the road. One of those things that are the width of the tire. Anyway, there are a bunch of objects that I know my handlebars would slam into, not to mentions sand piles right in the fvcking middle of the path, so I stay on the road (Not in the middle of the lane or anything). I dare someone to try that.

One saturday morning I went out to get bread and was on my way home sitting at a traffic light in the right lane of 2 lane highway. All of a sudden a Ford Explorer flies by me in the right turn lane and blasts through the red light and back into the right lane, it was amazing he found a gap through the cars turning left from the other direction. He must have been going 70. He then runs another red light though a very fast and busy intersection. I get further down the road and see he has hit 2 cars but was long gone. God only knows what he was running from, there were no cops chasing him at the time. It scared the sh1t out of me.

4 way intersection,

...I pull into the left lane to make a left turn. Guy was lookin' at me like I was nuts. It was with my mother's van. I could have died.

edit: in fact, before making the left turn, I waited in the left lane, and I don't think the guy who was looking at me who was about to turn, wanted to turn left because I was in the way. I didn't realize it until driving through that same intersection again.

*shudders*

I had a similar experience...

I saw a woman past her 50's... in an F350 truck..jacked up...putting on makeup by looking in the mirror and talking on a cell phone all at the same time. I said a few prayers...sped around here and into a different lane.

Most of the 'stupid traffic tricks' I've seen have been executed by women in minivans or SUV's. With very few exceptions, I don't think women should drive anything bigger or more expensive than a Civic/Corrolla/Cavalier/Neon.

My favorite recent one: a couple weeks ago some gal all alone in a giant SUV (Excursion maybe?) took roughly 15 minutes to take a left turn out of Dunkin' Donuts. Granted it was morning traffic, but it wasn't that bad. She was of course in the middle of the exit driveway, so no one could get past her to make a right turn. Finally I guess she received whatever invitation she was waiting for and went. The best part? The guy in the service truck behind her (a Verizon cable spool truck - with a full spool) got out into the same moderate traffic within 1 minute.

All time favorite: drunk gal in a minivan is weaving all over the place. I called the police because she was hitting the gravel on the opposite side of the road for Christ's sake. She blows through a red light - right into the car of the police officer that was responding to my call. That was priceless.

I agree with HumblePie, there are certain traffic disorders that when compounded scare the bejeezus out of me. My worst nightmare is an overweight asian woman in a minivan with handicapped New Hampshire plates. I think I'd just pull off the road and wait for the show.

I didn't see this but my sister did while taking her driving lesson! She was driving on the highway for the first time, she was in the middle lane (next to the slow lane) driving at a normal speed when this trailer vehicle is goin 70 passed her in the slow lane and a tire flys off of the trailer and bounces on to the highway jumping over 50FT into the air and finally smashing into a women's side door (all happening at highway speeds) countinuously bouncing up and down and finally went into the opposite lanes.

Driving to my my friends house with a buddy, in my brand new crossfire (less than 1000miles), and about to get onto the highway which involves going through an intersection. This woman (girl really couldn't have been 20) runs the red light and nails me on the passenger side. I didn't see her coming because there were people stopped at the intersection (three lanes), and she came right through the center lane. My car did a 90 degree turn (she hit me square on the front passenger tire), she sheers off my car and into a group of trees and then manages to end up on the highway I was trying to get on. Apparently she was talking on the phone and didn't see the red light, or the people waiting at the intersection. I guess I caught her off guard. Airbags went off and all, but me and my buddy were fine, the two 12 pack of bottles in the back were not, which when the police arrived at the accident, could smell the beer and assumed I was drunk driving. The cop assumed I was drunk so I had to sit on the curb, with my buddy (it was 23F out, december 22 and I only had a spring jacket which I leave in the trunk of my car), while the girl got to sit in the warm car. A witness to everything cleared me of any wrong doing. The car on the other hand had 14 grand worth of damage and was scrapped.. got a couple pics if I can find em..

moral of the story, look both ways, and pray like hell..

Another time I was driving extremely intoxicated down a steep road that curved sharply left to right. On one of the turns I took it a bit too fast and skidded out into some gravel just before hitting a ditch and a car's headlights passed by just as I slowed to a stop. They honked at me and I punched myself in the head before driving on home along the empty highway at around midnight.

Today on the way to work it was a blonde in a Nissan Armada. She's in the wrong lane at the intersection (all the lanes are very clearly marked (paint AND signs) several hundred feet before the intersection and right at the intersection - a rarity in MA) so she decides to start taking off through the red light to cut everybody else off, oblivious to the fact that a whole convoy of UPS trucks is still going through the intersection. I think she saw the left turn arrow change to red and figured that was for all the traffic from that direction. She then panics and comes to a dead stop in the middle of the intersection almost causing a 10 UPS truck collision. One of the trucks blares the horn at her and she snaps out out of it finally then goes through the intersection (and the still red light).

Following a car on the ramp to get onto I83. This car was weaving, speeding up and slowing down, hell pratically stopped once. Finally get out into traffic and I can't pass because traffic was heavy and I had to wait. This car was still weaving and going slow and almost hit a couple of cars in the left lane. People are honking at him. I finally get to pass, look over and this dude is reading a map AND talking on a cell phone. Pull over dumbass.

NJ plates BTW.

me and my friends rented a u-haul to move stuff to our new apt., and we were driving on the I-81N. there is light/moderate traffic and we are approaching an on-ramp. two tractor-trailers get off the on ramp and proceed to start cutting each other off. so in return, one of the tractor trailers cuts across three lanes and weaves in and out of traffic, causing everyone behind him to brake immediately. note, that i am driving a u-haul right now... with a full load. so braking hard != good. our truck was smoking for the next hour or so :p

The cops couldn't look at the back of the car, see 24 smashed beer bottles, look at the car, give you a breath test, and put 1+1+1 together?
