meh, probably overtaking on blind corners...

but people collectively speeding up when you get to a straight/overtaking lane after sitting 20kmh below the speed limit until then, then dropping to that speed again after the straight annoys me the most :|

yeah that sh1t is annoying...or when someone stays 3 feet off your bumper in traffic on the interstate and when you finally move over they move up to the next car 30 feet ahead and proceed to ride them just like they did you...i always get the urge to just slam on the brakes and claim whiplash

they wouldn't need to ride anybody's bumper if people would obey both the law and common courtesy and move the fvck out of the fast lane. ;)

what's the point when the car 30 feet in front of you is going the exact same speed you are?

Both of you shouldn't be in the fast (or in most states, the passing) lane?

have you never been in heavy traffic on a two lane interstate?

Yup. And even then a little more curteousy would go along way in helping at least one of the lanes go faster.

when you have exits on the left and on the right, sometimes you need to be in the left lane even if you're not passing...

my point is, what's the point of trying to squeeze in between two cars that are already following too closely when the other 5000 cars in front of you aren't moving any faster?

if anything i would think it would just cause more congestion trying to drive like that all the time...

i understand if traffic isn't that heavy, and i always drive in the right lane if conditions warrant it...but it's not always appropriate, depending on traffic

Well, on my commute to school there's a low bridge over the interstate. For some godawful reason, PennDOT sees no problem with it. It's "13'6" - a lot of semis are 14'. Car carriers are often even taller depending on what's loaded on the top level. However, for some UNGODLY reason, the bridge is angled. The truckers know this. The left lane is clearable by 14' trucks - usually. But stay in the right lane and you WILL hit it. Because of this, if I'm behind a truck of ANY sort coming up to that bridge, I back WAYYYY off. I want at least a quarter mile's notice to stop or avoid debris. I routinely see truckers realize this thing is there at the last second and swerve left, cutting off god knows what.

Funny thing is that last week, they had scaffolds up all over the bridge and stuff I'm like "Cool, they're going to fix it." Nope. They just painted over the spots where trucks have slammed off the paint and it was rusting... That paint is gone again now.

I have seen a few...most of the best are idiot drivers that like to weave in and out of traffic.

One was someone passing on the right at a red light recently....there was a metal pole at the end of the lane (which was a bike lane)....part of his bumper/fender on it the next day :)

Another was some prick thinking he was racing me, and me just trying to get the rolling disaster away from me. In his last manuveur of the day, he went for a quick brake on my left side, then cut behind me to pass on the right (he was doing circles around me and other cars, blocking them from being able to change lanes, etc... I had already called the police and they were on their way)...well I had enough and knew that lane ended with a curb, I put on my right blinker and pretended I wanted to get over...apparently he didn't know this lane just ended and being too preoccupied watching me in his sideview mirror found out the hard way. I didn't stay, but I wish I did...I would have loved to hear him tell the police he didn't know how he didn't see the curb.

Another was (found out later drunk, and drinking WHILE driving) driver in a hoopty station wagon driving aggressively and wild. Was beeping at people, cutting them off, etc. I called 911 for him, but they already heard and were coming, he had caused at least one other accident. At the next light he was there rearended into a big SUV deal with half his car under it. He was trying to flee the scene but the guy from the truck reached in and grabbed him by the throat and basically told him to take the keys out of the ignition and that he wasn't going anywhere, he was asking other's to help him stop this guy. I pulled over and made a statement for this one, a few others involved stopped by too...he had ran quite a few people right off the road. Dude went back to his car (almost got tackled again by the SUV owner and some other people that stopped) and pulled the rest of his 12 pack out and brought it to the curb, and kept on drinking until the cops showed up. He tried to claim he is drunk now because he was drinking because he wrecked his car, he just wanted to pick up some beer and go home and finish it...when they argued he got a little pushy so they zip-tied him. Then he tried to kick them so they zip-tied him again. One of the cops counted the cans on the scene and those that were missing, I can't remember the number but it was like 4-5 cans unaccounted for. His response "those are in the car...", he tried to correct himself...everyone at this point was hysterical. Cop went and looked...he found them and each was empty inside the vehicle.

the classic quote was him crying "Am I going to have to go to jail?" and getting back something along the lines that jail was going to be the easy part of his ordeal over the next few years dealing with tonight.

Around thanksgiving a few years ago on a foggy night when the roads were moist. I was heading east past my old high school and stopped at a four way intersection red light, the light turned green for people making left turns coming from the north and south. It was a double left turn lane, there was a F-150 in the inside lane a BMW 3 seires next to him. The light turned green and they raced each other through the left turn in the intersection. They past by me, then I heard a crash, I looked back and the BMW had hit the curb and flew down a 50 foot ravine.

I've seen a guy drive PERPINDICULAR to traffic on the interstate to exit. He literally drove from the far left lane across 3 or 4 lanes to the exit.

Haha, reminds me of this year at the GM auto show in motion. We were test driving the Pontiac Vibe, had it almost to redline in first gear entering a sharp corner. I rip that ebrake pretty good (damn was it strong, in my car it would have done practically nothing, but in this case it locked up the rear wheels - crap IMO). We mostly spun and got kicked out. But who cared, it was our second day and it was free and getting boring. My buddy who was driving said it was awesome, totally worth it, and would have me do it all over ;).

BTW, no real danger, nothing to hit but cones, closed course.

i saw some kid (looked in his teens) in a tricked out mini cooper, had the full on exaust, fin, etc. Well this was about "Italian Job" time and this guy in the MIDDLE of the intersection pulls the 360 thing. Now wouldn't be a big deal but this is in the middle of rush hour. Well a little ways days the road catch up to him, his car is wrapped around a stoplight pole, standing outside his car crying LMAO

got passed by an SUV during a blizzard, im doing 25, hes doing about 45, because you know SUVs are magically immune to winter conditions.

Doesnt make it 200 feet in front of me and i see headlights, tail lights, headlights, and him smashing into the wall.

Moron.

Someone else stopped to help so i beeped on my way by and waved.

everything related to highway...

1) changing a tire one-lane over from cars doing 60mph (usually a shoulder) ... get the fvck off the highway to change your tire unless it fell off completely.
2) going in reverse on the shoulder because you missed your exit... get off at the next one and double back you retard.
3) I absolutely cannot understand this one... cars merging onto the highway... there's 3-car lengths of room BEHIND me and they have to force themselves between me and the car in front. Jackass.
4) aggressive drivers who don't know how to aggressively drive. If you have to brake as soon as you changed into another lane, you've failed.

it's immune to slip and slides during acceleration but that's it. So many people don't get that 4-wheel braking is not an advantage in snow or ice.

I had someone hit my car just like the woman in the OP. I had a car behind me, so I couldn't back up, so I lean on the horn. It didn't help though, and when I got out to ask him what the hell he was thinking, he said he was trying to turn around. He apologized though, and begged me not to call my insurance. The damage wasn't bad so I agreed.

I got an estamate of $400 and told him he had 2 weeks to get me the cash. I didn't hear from him after that.

why didn't you just use the phone number or license plate you undoubtedly collected at the scene ?

a woman was coming from an underpass to a bridge - the underpass leads you to a merge lane on the bridge to continue going south. instead, she crossed 2 southbound lanes (1 goes to bridge, 1 to underpass to go to island) and headed north. she could easily have been nailed, since most cars going southbound do 60. not to mention that her action was totally illegal and insanely dangerous. there are about 50000000 places to get onto the main highway heading north

On my way to work about 4 years ago I came to a red light and was in the middle lane of a 3 lane road I noticed that the person that was in the right lane behind me was approaching pretty fast and then realize that there is no way they can stop in time for the light especially since the road were wet. Well he basically slams on the brakes at at least 60 mph right at the line to stop at the light and his car spins out and ends up dong a 180 into the middle of the intersection and he just sits there for like 5 seconds looking blankly directly at me before peeling out and going the wrong direction down the road before turning off into a side road.

I had all of his info, and gave it to my insurance company. I was pissed because I waited almost a month to get my car fixed trying to help the guy out, and he never called me again. I got my $500 deductible back from his insurance about a year later.

Recently ... two women. how funny.

One woman was so busy talking on her cell phone that she decided to fluctuate between 30 and 40 mph in a 45 zone. I was stuck behind her for 10 minutes.

Another women tried passing me on the shoulder during heavy traffic. I prevented that maneuver.

Concur, that sucks. But on single lane roads liek that, passing is a waste of time because passing jsut puts you behind someone else that is in no hurry.

MORE:

Oh ... people with trucks and SUVs that tail gate. I have atruck and I am not intimidated by people intentionally tail gating. I usuually slow down.

Several years ago, I almost kileld a motorcyclist doing 120 or so. I never knew he was there (passing me on the right just after I passed some) as he came out of no where. If I hit him, not a single tear would have been shed. IWas merging back with traffic in the process of moving back to the right lane as is propper.
