Ok, today I got off school because of MLK jr. Day, BUT i don't get off President's Day in Feb. Why not? Isn't this day just as important...if not more?

man, i'm in college and as most of my friends are too. and they would agree with me on this. we don't get off for either. so we don't know the difference. however, in high school we got both off.

my personal belief is that MLK day is not more important than Presiden't day, it is not even close IMHO.

Thank you! THat is exactly how I feel, but the public and media make a bigger deal out of MLK day. It makes me upset to see how unimportant our "founding fathers" are in the eyes of the american public. Look at all of the great things Jefferson, washington, lincoln did. Thikn about this....if it wans't for lincoln...would there be a MLK day?

Well I get off school today but not work. So its not like a free day. Don't rag on MLK though, he was an important man for his time to a lot of people. His contributions should not be diminished. President's day is a more generic holiday, I mean we have had so many presidents it is not like we can celibrate one more than the other. And there will always be more presidents to come, some good and some bad.

If we had an Abe Lincoln day or George Washington day, then I will be all for no school and work :)

I agree. Presidents day is much more important holiday, and should be treated as such. Glad I'm not in school anymore ;)

There should only be 4 holidays. Christmas, New Years (because to many people are hung over) Memorial Day and the 4th of July.
