What is the difference between these two memory modules?

To my shame, I must confess I've never used or was even aware of the faq. I'd seen the tab but figured it was about the forum itself, and not a source of technical information.
Humblest apologies...

"Generally" ECC I think is used in server type environments more so, or where you need an extra level of stability. It does some kind of extra 'checking', I forget the exact name for the abreviation.. "Error Control..??" something or other.. I believe.

EDIT: Also, in Rambus terms I do believe that its considered PC-800 (goes buy the speed of the memory) instead of how DDR is rated.. (PC2700=333, PC3200=400, etc)

You have been around long enough that you
should enough to check the FAQs and you'll get
a detailed answer

😉😉😛😀

ECC does error checking and the other doesn't. Back in the day ECC RAM was slower due to the extra error checking. Now-a-days I don't think that it is quite as noticable.
