What is the difference between these two choices of ram?

I'm trying to buy ram for my macbook pro. I've narrowed it down to these two choices:

I can't figure out why the second link is more expensive then the first. The only difference in the model number is the letter R at the end.

I've googled all over and got tons of different ideas, but nothing solid. Some say the R stands for refurb, some say the R stands for Registered, and some say the R stands for Returned. The refurb and returned make no sense because the cost is more then the non-R version of this ram. Registered can't be true because the ram would say it was registered. Any ideas which one would work better in my macbook pro?

I'm also open to other suggestions on ram for my macbook pro. According to my searches my macbook (the second to last generation) only supports PC25300 Ram (DDR2 667)

I don't think there is a difference, apart from the packaging. Go for the cheaper one -- free shipping too. Should be fine for your laptop, just double-check it can use 4GB. Some older Pro models could only use 3GB. Even then, I think you can use these sticks with no problem.

Yea, I know mine can handle 4 gig because it was an option when I ordered it. I think what you suggested is what I'm going to do.

Sometimes this indicates that they purchased a bulk set from the manufacturer and are able to sell it for a lower price, while the higher price one is what they would normally sell it for. The supplier D&H does this frequently; sometimes I see the exact same product with slightly different SKU for different amounts.

Just a guess.
