What is the difference between these 2 Processors?

The 1MB cache doesn't help that much, but is nice to have.

The biggest benefit of a REAL FX is the unlocked multiplier.

I say go for the 3800+

The "model number" is meant to be a rough guideline. The 4000 should be roughly 5% faster than the 3800, in theory.

Of course, this all depends heavily on what you are doing. If you are running a program working with a small amount of data, the extra cache will be of no help.

On the other hand, if you are working with a LOT of data (photoshop, video editing, etc.), then the extra cache will be a huge help.

So, the answer is "it depends." But I would expect between 0% and 10%.

3800 is a bad choice, as you could buy a 3000 or 3200 for way less and easily overclock to 3800 speeds. The 3800 itself will not overclock that well though. 4000 might be okay as you do get the larger cache.

Some people do not overclock, Cheesetogo. The 3800 is a better choice than the 4000, the extra cache doesn't justify the added cost. Put the savings into other area's of your computer, like the video card.

Cache my freind is the difference. I dont agree with the 200+ pr points that comes with the extra 512K, only a few instances where it helps. Still a fine chip either one.

Save your money and get the 3800+, E ( Out soon, shipping now I believe) if you can.
