It breaks less, you wont have to RMA it 4 times in 2 years.

the 4.0a fixed the defect from 4.0 as well as some other small mods.

The 4.0 tended to have wiring come loose interally and just stop working at random.

I went through 5 of them in 2 years (on 3 PCs, bought 3 new at the same time, did 5 total RMAs, the only ones i have working were 4.0s that were replaced with 4.0a models)
